Jason Momoa shaved off his hair to call attention to the issue of plastic pollution and took the opportunity to get some new ink.
Working with artist Keone Nunes, who specializes in traditional Hawaiian tattoos, Momoa got a geometric design on the left side of his head, resembling the large design on his left forearm.
He had previously explained that the tattoo on his arm was inspired by a Hawaiian family crest. “It’s our aumakua, our family crest, guardian,” he said in a 2013 interview.
