Chris Pine took a break from the big screen to lend his talents to the world of podcasting. The actor is the voice behind the new podcast series "Cardiac Cowboys," launched by iHeartMedia and OSO Studios.

The six-episode documentary, which premiered on World Heart Day (September 29), explores the daring journey of pioneering surgeons who developed open-heart surgery. Pine, known for his roles in Star Trek, Wonder Woman and more, narrates the series, bringing to life the stories of these audacious medical innovators.

The podcast delves into the history of heart surgery, a field once considered taboo. It highlights the resourcefulness of these surgeons, who used makeshift tools like dairy pumps and beer tubes to create life-saving medical devices. Pine expressed admiration for the surgeons, stating, "As the narrator of 'Cardiac Cowboys,' I was struck by the sheer bravery and relentless determination of these medical pioneers. This story is about rule-breakers who risked everything to save lives and changed the course of medicine for all of us."

Produced by OSO Studios, the series features a talented creative team, including writer Jamie Napoli and composer David Mansfield. The podcast is available on the iHeartRadio app and other major platforms. iHeartMedia President Will Pearson commented on the podcast's impact, saying it honors the pioneers of heart surgery and inspires listeners to challenge boundaries. He shared, "The story of the 'Cardiac Cowboys' is a testament to human courage and innovation—qualities that resonate deeply with so many of us. We believe this series will not only honor the pioneers of heart surgery but also inspire listeners to consider what’s possible when boundaries are challenged."
