Better Business Bureau Scam Alert - Moving Scams

Planning to move and need to hire a mover? Don’t become the victim of a rogue moving company. Rogue movers typically advertise online and tempt you with low cost moves. They are known to use phony testimonials, non-existent addresses, and may claim to have years and years of experience.

They typically quote low costs then, on the day of your move, drastically increase the price. If you won’t pay, they threaten to drive off leaving you in the lurch. Some have been known to pack all your belongings, drive away, then call later threatening to hold your property hostage until you pay thousands more.

Don’t be moved by cheap prices. Deal with a local reputable company. Get a written estimate based on an in-person inventory, research the company online, and do not pay a large up-front deposit.
