The Cleveland Guardians fell apart in the top of the ninth during an 8-6 loss to the Colorado Rockies at Progressive Field. The Guardians led by two entering in the inning before surrendering four runs. Bo Naylor homered in the losing effort, while Cade Smith was charged with his fourth loss in relief. Cleveland is in second place in the AL Central at 52-and-54. Logan Allen starts for the Guardians against Colorado tonight.
Major League Baseball has placed a second Cleveland Guardians player on leave as part of an investigation into sports betting. The team announced yesterday that All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase is being investigated. Earlier this month, Cleveland pitcher Luis Ortiz was placed on indefinite leave, reportedly due to a gambling probe. The Guardians say MLB told them "no additional players or club personnel are expected to be impacted."
