SIGNIFICANT HEAT:
The big heat will continue through Wednesday. Highs each afternoon will be in the middle to upper 90s. The humidity will make it feel like it's between 100 and 105 degrees most afternoons. The worst part of the heat wave will be today and tomorrow. This is when the heat index will likely push 105+ during the afternoon. This is dangerous heat so make sure you keep a close eye on the elderly, pets, and younger ones. Keep an extra close eye on those you know without air conditioning. Because of the threat for extreme heat, the CBS 21 First Warning Weather team has declared Monday and Tuesday as Weather WARN Days.
COOLER WITH STORM CHANCES:
A Wave of cold fronts will break our heart wave as we close in on the weekend. As a result, we will also see the daily chance for scattered afternoon thunderstorms increase. Highs this weekend look to be back down into the mid to upper 80s.

The World Health Organization recommends drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and sugar, and refraining from strenuous activity to stay cool. Wearing lightweight clothing and staying in the shade can also help. For those without air conditioning, opening windows at night when it's cooler and closing them during the day can help keep homes cool.
