Flavor Flav Helps Crowdfund To Send Paralympians Parents To Paris Games

Team USA Paralympic sprinter Nick Mayhugh created a crowdfunding campaign earlier this month to raise money to send his parents to Paris to watch him compete in the 2024 Paralympics. His parents weren’t able to attend the Tokyo Paralympics due to COVID-19, making this their first opportunity to see their son compete internationally. The campaign quickly gained traction when rapper Flavor Flav shared it on social media, significantly boosting its visibility.

Flavor Flav, who’s been all over the news recently for his support of American athletes competing in the summer games, helped the fundraiser surpass its $10,000 goal within a day after sharing it last week. The campaign has ensured that Mayhugh’s parents can attend the games and it’s especially meaningful for the athlete, who won three gold medals and one silver in Tokyo, as having his parents able to see him compete in Paris would make his second Paralympic experience even more special.

Throughout the summer, Flavor Flav has been actively supporting various Team USA athletes, including helping discus thrower Veronica Fraley with rent, making a bronze clock necklace for Jordan Chiles after she lost her bronze medal due to a technicality, sponsoring the U.S. Women's water polo team, and offering encouragement to others. His involvement with Mayhugh’s campaign is just part of his broader effort to uplift and assist American athletes.
