An Uber driver in Petersburg, Virginia, is being hailed as a hero for quickly transporting a shooting victim to the hospital after they were shot twice in the normally quiet Walnut Hill neighborhood.
The driver, who was in the area to pick up a passenger, sped to the Southside Medical Center, where the victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses praised the driver’s actions, saying that his quick response potentially saved the victim’s life.
Police note that the driver was also at risk, as bullets flew near him during the incident.
