Quick thinking and preparedness saved the home of Army veteran Jim Cragg through the inferno that ravaged California.
Talking with NBC Los Angeles, Cragg talked about the lessons he learned after the last brush fires came through the area.
He bought some “cheap sprinklers” and hoses and put them on his roof when the fire broke out.
Then, he sprayed down his home with fire retardant before taking his family out.
Getting his family safe down the road proved to be tricky, but they all survived, and Cragg’s home is still standing.
