Jeffersonville, Georgia, 27-year-old Tiffany Slaton was found alive last Thursday after being missing for nearly two weeks in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. She was discovered at a remote resort cabin and was dehydrated, but otherwise in good condition. The resort owner, who leaves the cabins unlocked in case a lost hiker needs shelter, spotted her while checking the property.
Slaton was last seen on April 24th, and her family reported her missing on the 29th after not hearing from her for nine days. The search for her lasted four days and covered 600 square miles.
Slaton had been on a cross-country trip after finishing some contract work in Oregon, to visit all 50 U.S. states. Her father, Bobby Slaton, says she’d always dreamed of traveling and connecting with new people, and California was still on her bucket list. Slaton’s family expressed gratitude to first responders, the resort owner, and the media for their help in the search and rescue of their daughter.
