A German shepherd named Bella was rescued from a Florida canal by Fort Lauderdale firefighters after being missing for six years.
Crews safely pulled her from the water, gave her food and rest, and scanned her microchip, which revealed she belonged to the Nicholson family.
The family explained that Bella disappeared after a friend gave her away without their permission, while a house fire displaced them.
Lisa and Jason Nicholson, along with their daughters, drove 200 miles for an emotional reunion, with Lisa saying, "Hugging Bella again felt like our family was made whole again."
She now hopes Bella’s story encourages others to microchip their pets, adding, "They truly, truly work."
