Vallejo, California, single mom Amanda Williams is being praised for stopping a stabbing attack earlier this month. She was on her way to get coffee before a DoorDash shift when she saw a man on the ground bleeding as another man stood over him with two knives. Williams shouted at the attacker before running over and grabbing his arm as he attempted to stab the victim again.
Despite having no formal training, she wrestled the knives from the suspect, twisting them out of his hands before running to safety. The attacker then stole her car and fled, leading police on a short chase before being arrested. Neighbors who witnessed the struggle called 911, and one resident described Williams as a hero, saying her actions saved a life.
Williams said her only concern in the moment was preventing the victim’s death, even though she feared for her own safety. She has since launched a crowdfund to help cover repairs on her car, which was left too damaged to drive.
