Over the weekend, Micah, a four-year-old boy from Farmington Hills, Michigan, called 911 to talk about his love for soccer and swimming.
Dispatchers followed protocol and sent Officer Michael El-Hage to check on the situation, where he found Micah and his brother Mitch safe at home.
The officer spent time talking with the boys and even showed them the inside of his police cruiser.
During the visit, El-Hage learned that Mitch had a birthday the next day.
He told the boys he might try to come back, but wasn’t sure if he could.
To their delight, he returned and surprised Mitch with birthday gifts, including a soccer goal, a police cap, and a badge.
El-Hage, who has a son himself, said he wanted to make the boys’ day special and that being a dad helped him understand the importance of moments like this.
The Farmington Hills Police Department shared the story on social media, noting that the visit turned a small mistake into a positive connection.
The department added that while accidental 911 calls happen, they want kids to feel safe and comfortable reaching out to police.
