Many celebrities have come out to say they don't shower every day. Experts are Harvard Medical School say that "Showering several times per week is plenty for most people." One exception to the rule is if you have been sweating you should make sure you shower after.
One good reason to shower after any kind of rigorous activity is skin infections. According to Dr. Emeka Okorocha, skin infections are caused by "the build up of bacteria of the skin that doesn't get washed off during showering." That bacteria then mixes with your sweat. If your skin gets hurt in a kind of way, there is more of a risk of infection.
You increase the odds of having acne, eczema and psoriasis if you are not showering after your sweat session.
Yeast infections are also a good reason to shower after perspiring. Dermatologist Dr. Gretchen Frieling, says to get out of those sweaty clothes and into some clean ones ASAP. This is a good way to prevent yourself from getting a yeast infection.
Your body is not protected from the sun's rays when you are sweating a lot. This can cause you to get sunburned. "When we sweat there is reduced UV protection. So during summer months particularly, make sure that you are showering the sweat off your body or at the very least put on some extra sunscreen," says Dr. Okorocha.
The fungal infection known as, athlete's foot can also appear from not showering regularly after vigorous exercise. Dr. Frieling explains that sweat and bacteria can be trapped in your socks. By showering and putting on a clean pair of socks you can avoid itchiness, cracked skin, burning, pain and in some cases blisters.
