Cleveland Bites With Jen Picciano September 3rd

Jen dishes about the food scene in Cleveland. She keeps us in the know when it comes to restaurants opening, closing as well as specialty events happening around town!

Sad news as Tremont Scoops closes up shop. Their neighbor made them an offer on their building that they couldn’t refuse. They will be closing their doors on September 19th, after 9 wonderful seasons. We just may see a Lakewood location in the future.

Staffing issues are a big problem at many restaurants across the U.S. and Citizen Pie is having the same difficulties. Their 25th street location is closed until further notice but their East 4th and Waterloo location is still open.

Fahrenheit is moving from Tremont to the 55 Building in public square. They will be occupying the former John Q’s (closed/vacant since 2013), plus second floor and rooftop space. Working on bidding for architecture and engineering, with a 2022 target opening date. Meanwhile Tremont is status quo in the interim. While chef Rocco Whalen is going to move Fahrenheit downtown, he is not vacating Tremont. He and wife have thoughts and a direction that they want to travel in, but not ready to talk about just yet.

The Spot on Lakeshore will be opening in Mentor in October. They will be offering breakfast, lunch and cocktails from 7am-3pm. In addition, they have added a grab and go concept that will offer hot and ready breakfast items and premium coffee drinks from 6am-11am. A full bar, lounge, dining area and party room all offer a casual, yet chic setting. The menu is a blend of your classic 'go-to' items such as eggs benedict and tuna melts, as well as some specialty items like coffee rubbed short rib hash and curried salmon burger with green onion cream cheese spread.

Bar Oni will be closed for a week. Chef Matt Spinner tested positive and will be gone for two weeks. He wasn’t there with symptoms.

Kate’s Fish is closed for two weeks. Since the West Side Market has had some operational issues they feel the need to regroup and better organize their business. They are “Looking forward to their bright future at the WSM,” re-opening September 10th.

Souper Market downtown on E. 6th is now closed. The building has new owners with new plans. Opening in The Standard building in the coming months.
