Ever dream of taking a weekend trip all by yourself? Everyone deserves a little time alone every once in a while, especially moms. But the thought of leaving the kids and partners behind seems forbidden to a lot of us, like it’s something that moms just aren’t allowed to do. The thing is, solo getaways for moms should be encouraged because prioritizing yourself doesn’t make you selfish, it makes you a better mom and partner.
These are just a few of the reasons moms should pack a bag and leave the kids with their partner for a few days:
- Think of all the things you WON’T have to do - Moms are busy and tend to have an endless schedule of who needs to go where and what needs to be done. But when mom goes on a weekend away alone? That schedule doesn’t exist for her. There are no practices to take kids to, no games to wash uniforms for, no fights to break up and no lunches to make. That alone is enough to make mom feel alive again.
- It’s good for your relationship - You may think your partner can’t handle the kids without you, but they usually can and giving them the chance to do it shows you trust them. Things may not get done the way you’d do them, but the kids will most likely be fine. It may even build your partner’s confidence to know they can do it and that’s good for your relationship, too.
- You can find you again - Find yourself forgetting who you were pre-motherhood? A trip by yourself can help you reconnect with the hobbies and activities you used to enjoy before you had kids. You’ll have time to read, go to a museum, or just take a bath uninterrupted for once. The possibilities are endless when mom has a whole weekend to herself, so maybe it’s time to book that trip, mama.
