If you ask any woman what she considers the worst part of her body, chances are she’ll come up with it instantly because it’s the part of her body she does everything she can to cover when getting dressed. But when it comes to naming their best body part, far fewer women can do it and they may even cringe at the idea of showing it off.
But according to British stylist Miranda Holder, identifying your best body part and dressing to celebrate it is something we all should be doing. She says it’s the key to looking your best regardless of age, body type and budget. “It's simply about working with what mother nature gave us, identifying your best bits and flaunting them with panache,” she explains, “while guiding the eye away from any lumps and bumps you'd prefer to conceal.”
The style expert points out that this is exactly what celebs like J.Lo, Zendaya and Reese Witherspoon do and if it works for them, it can work for us, too. This is Holder’s advice for dressing your best body part:
- Midriff - Have abs of steel? Then show them off with crop tops, low slung waists and this season’s “bra under a nice suit” trend.
- Arms - Long, slender arms are made for summer fashions like vest tops, camisoles, halter necks and strapless dresses.
- Cleavage - Curvy types can go bold in plunging necklines and deep v-necks that highlight their hourglass figure.
- Legs - Long legs look fantastic in everything from maxi skirts to micro-minis, as well as super skinny jeans and leggings.
- Booty - To show off your derriere, try dresses made of figure-hugging fabrics, long pencil skirts, and don’t forget to highlight that waist.
- Shoulders - Flaunt those shapely shoulders with halter necks tops and one-shoulder dresses.
