McDonald’s New Zealand recently had some fun with a limited-time item called the McMullet, a cheeseburger with an extra slice of cheese hanging out the back, inspired by the iconic mullet hairstyle.
The idea actually came from social media buzz, where fans pushed for the unusual creation until the brand brought it to life with playful marketing and even a launch event complete with free burgers and on-site mullet haircuts.
While it’s no longer on the menu and isn’t coming to the U.S., curious fans can easily recreate it by ordering a cheeseburger with an extra slice of cheese and letting it peek out the back.
It’s a lighthearted example of an online trend that turned into a real-world menu item, even if only briefly.
