It was 13 years ago this week, one of the most iconic television series ever came to a stunning and controversial end. HBO's The Sopranos final episode, "Made in America" aired June 10, 2007 and what exactly happened has been hotly-debated ever since. In the final scene, the family is sitting in a diner when all of a sudden the screen fades to black for approximately 10 seconds. The abrupt fade to black was deliberate, although at the time, many fans were furious thinking their cable went out robbing them of the dramatic finale.
In a leaked interview for a book, creator David Chase appears to have revealed that Tony Soprano was assassinated in the booth by referring to it as "the death scene". When the interviewer quickly pointed out to Chase he just called it "the death scene", he realized his blunder and shot back, "F--you guys."
