As a society we continue to evolve and things that we once thought were appropriate to joke about are no longer acceptable.
Spongebob Squarepants first aired in 1999 and has run for 13 seasons. The show has fascinated kids, teens and even adults but has also had its fair share of controversy. Nickelodeon has officially removed two episodes from the cartoon's rotation due to their content.
The first one they removed is from their 12th season, called "Kwarantine Krab," where some of the staff and patrons get the "Clam Flu." Obviously, this is a very sensitive subject for many Americans since Covid-19 has affected so many people.
The second episode that has been pulled is much older. It is from season 3 and it is called "Mid-Life Crustacean in which " Mr. Krabs, Spongebob's boss at the Krusty Krab, is having a mid-life crisis. Spongebob and his best friend, Patrick, decide to take Mr. Krabs for a night out on the town filled with debauchery. By the end of the episode they end up braking into a woman's house and stealing her panties. Of course many are now deeming these actions highly inappropriate for children to be watching.
With 265 episodes, there are still many choices for you to watch in the Spongebob Squarepants series. What are your thoughts on the removal of these episodes?
