Get Your Kids To Fall Asleep Faster

Being a parent can be stressful especially at bedtime. Most kids have what we call "FOMO" (Fear Of Missing Out) so they never want to go to sleep. As moms and dads, we know how precious sleep is not only for us but for our young ones. Children grow when they sleep and it also gives us adults some peaceful time to relax before we head to bed ourselves.

Here are a few tips to help your little ones fall asleep faster:

1.) Set a Bedtime & Wake Time

-This is a great tip even for us adults. Sticking to a routine will help create good sleep habits. Even on the weekend keeping kids on a schedule will help strengthen the cycle.

2.) Relax Before Heading To Bed

-Some children, and even adults, are wired before going to sleep. Make sure you set the tone by dimming the lights. You can always try a nice warm bath, reading a book or even listening to serene sounds/music.

3.) Get Rid Of The Electronics

-Electronics are now a staple in all of our homes. Turning off the TV, tablets and phones will help the mind settle which will ease them sleep. The ambient blue light from the screens will not let our brain create melatonin, the chemical that helps you sleep, if it believes there is still daylight.

4.) Naps Should Be Early & Short

-Taking a nap can be detrimental to your evening of good rest. Make sure kids take short naps no later than early afternoon. Long naps can prohibit children as well as adults from falling asleep at nighttime.

5.) Address Fears

-Many kids get scared before bed because it is scary &/or dark. Make sure you child feels safe so they have once less worry on their mind and they can relax completely. Some children like a night light to help make them feel better and some would choose a stuffed animal or security blanket.
