Self-Care Tips If You Are On A Budget

Many of us need some time to decompress and heading to the Spa can be a costly endeavor but treating yourself doesn't have to be expensive. Personal mental wellness can be just as relaxing as a day at the spa. Sometimes it's the little things that matter in easing your mind. RealSimple.com gives us some ideas on how to improve your emotional, mental and physical health on a budget.

You can start of with the basics. Ask yourself have you drank any water? Did you get enough sleep? Have you eaten today? Then move onto evaluating your daily routine. Something as simple as switching up your morning coffee can make a difference. If running to Starbucks or Dunkin' every morning seems repetitive and boring switch it up by making coffee at home. This can save you a little extra time and money.

Try going to the library. Immersing yourself in a good book can take you away mentally. You can physically get up and out of the house or you can use apps to download e-books and audio tapes. Sometimes we need to check out so that we can check back into a good headspace.

Meditation is always a great choice for trying to calm your inner self. There are many free apps out there like Calm & Headspace that can help guide you through your meditation journey.

Try volunteering! Helping your community or others in need can be very rewarding which would in turn boost your happiness.

Stay in touch with your friends and not just through Zoom. Actually see them face-to-face. Even if you just take a walk through the park to catch up, in person conversation can be very gratifying.

Remember, treating yourself does not mean you have to do this every day or spend a ton of money. Sometimes listening to your heart's desires can be just as satisfying.
