Counting calories can be laborious. Many people are unhappy with their weight and would like to drop a few pounds. Registered dietitian, Kylie Sakaida, understands the struggles of counting every calorie. She offers a few tips for losing weight without having to focus on the exact calorie count. She explains to focus more on the food you are eating.
She went to TikTok to share her thoughts on counting calories.
Sakaida suggests you add protein into your meals. Protein takes longer to break down and will keep you feeling fuller longer. If your typical breakfast grab is avocado toast, throw an egg on top to add more protein into your diet.
Slow down while you eat. You can prevent overeating if you stop rushing through your meals. It takes our brains about 20 minutes to recognize that we are full. If you slow down you give your brain a chance to catch up to your stomach.
She also recommends that you count the colors on your plate instead of calories. The variety of colors also provides a variety of nutrients. Kylie Sakaida says to think about foods from a nutrient perspective rather than a calorie one.
