Why Parents Need To Get Out Of The House For Date Night

When it comes to date night for parents, nothing could be easier than just staying in, but there are a lot of good reasons to actually get out of the house. And hey, we get it, moms and dads. You’re tired and finding someone to watch the kids may be a challenge, but making the effort to go out on a real date is worth the time and energy.

This is why parents deserve to get out of the house for date night:

  • The most obvious benefit - Going out for date night means you get a real, physical break from the kids. And all moms and dads deserve that every once in a while.
  • Staying connected - Being alone as a couple helps parents strengthen their bond. They get to be partners again, not just mom and dad.
  • Being active - At-home dates often consist of eating and binge-watching TV, which can be fun. But going out of the house means more physical activity, even if it’s just walking to and from the car for dinner.
  • More effort = more love - When we see our S.O. putting effort into planning things for us, it makes us feel good and our connection to them stronger.
  • It removes the triggers - Being at home for a date means you see all the laundry that needs to be done, the toys that need to be put away and all the chores left undone. But going out puts that out of sight and out of mind.
  • No clean up - Having a date out of the house means there’s nothing to clean up after!
  • Model healthy relationships - By leaving the house, you show your kiddos what a healthy relationship looks like and that making time for your partner is important.
  • Absence makes the heart grow fonder - Getting away from your darling children for the evening may make you miss them, so you’ll be that much happier to see them when you get home.
