Do you have a stack of books on your nightstand just collecting dust at this point? Between kids, work and everything else moms have on our plates, finding time to start and actually finish a book can seem impossible. But Zibby Owens, creator and host of the award-winning podcast ‘Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books,’ says it doesn’t have to be.
As a mom of four and head of Zibby Owens Media, she knows first hand the challenges of finding time to read. But if you used to love reading and miss that joy it brings to your life, it’s time to crack open a book again.
These are Zibby’s tips for incorporating reading into your life as a busy mom:
- Always pack a book in your bag/purse.
- Read in the stolen moments: waiting in line, while commuting, waiting for a doctor’s appointment, at school pick-up.
- Listen to audiobooks. Turn them on while you fold laundry, organize your office, and walk to meetings.
- Join a book club. Having someone to check in with about a book makes it more fun. (You can even join Zibby’s Virtual Book Club.)
- Don’t feel pressured to read what everyone says is great. Read what YOU want to read. And if you don’t love it, stop reading! Move on to the next.
