Guy Stages Fall On Ice Rink To Surprise GF With Proposal

A couple of hockey fans are now engaged after Gurneet Arora took falling in love literally to pull off his proposal. After spending almost an entire year planning it, he faked a fall while skating with Ananya Batra, his girlfriend of three and a half years. But it was actually a nod to the first message he sent her four years ago and she was “so happy and shocked” by the surprise.

They were at Gore Meadows Ice Rink in Ontario, Canada, earlier this month, when Arora staged the slip.

  • Batra thought they were ice skating to celebrate his birthday with friends, family and even their dog Leo, but everyone was in on the secret plan except the bride-to-be.
  • When Arora and his buddies pretended to race across the rink, he “fell,” slamming himself onto the ice.
  • His future fiance was worried about the hard fall and skated to his side to see if he was hurt, but as soon as he got up, he had the diamond ring in hand and popped the question.
  • Arora used a throwback to the first corny message he sent her in 2021, knowing she was a huge Totonto maple Leafs fan, which included a GIF of the team’s former player Matt Martin falling on the ice and read, “I fell trying to slide into your dms, a little help?”
  • So, when he proposed he used a similar line, telling her, “Do you remember the very first message I sent you? Will you help me out one more time and marry me?”

Batra was caught off guard, but immediately said “Yes!” “I didn’t hear any of the outside noise and it was just me and him being in the moment, and I fell in love with him even more,” she says of the proposal. “I was just so incredibly happy that nothing else mattered.”
