In Farmington, Connecticut, a bear broke into a family’s locked car on Saturday and caused major damage. The family shared photos with Channel 3 showing a smashed roof and broken windows. Nobody was in the car, so no one was hurt. The bear got in by tearing through a door and the roof, even though the car was locked, ripping the car apart in the process.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said this is a reminder to lock cars in areas where bears live, as they can open unlocked doors. Connecticut’s black bear population, estimated at 1,000 to 1,200, is growing, leading to more bear sightings and incidents across the state.
