Deputy’s Act Of Kindness For Driver Speeding To Funeral Goes Viral

Last week, Deputy Dustin Byers of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana pulled over a speeding driver and learned he was on his way to a funeral. The man explained that he was already having a hard day and was also struggling to tie his necktie. Rather than just issuing a ticket and leaving, Byers took a moment to help.

In a photo shared online by the sheriff’s office, he’s seen tying the man’s tie on the side of the road. The officer describes the moment as a reminder that “compassion still exists, even on the side of the road.” The story has since been liked over 20-thousand times.

Though the driver still received a speeding ticket, many praised the deputy’s small but meaningful gesture. One commenter wrote, “Deputy Byers chose compassion — turning frustration into dignity and stress into support.” Others called it a powerful reminder that kindness can happen anytime and anywhere.
